YEARS IN SERVICE
Ichiro Nakatsu is famous for his vintage archive spanning generations. This season we decided to dive deeper into his military archive with military service wear silhouettes such as M65 jackets and cargo pants. While there is a vast abundance of military surplus gear at affordable prices, we enjoy looking at how far modern techniques and sometimes the use of vintage machinery can match past generations when producing a reproduction.
The fishtail parka is a true classic, and we're excited to work with Orslow once again on such a remarkable piece. The M65 fishtail parka in cotton sateen is kept to our original specification of an elongated back ending in two points, guaranteeing its wearer additional protection against the elements. The fabric itself has a beautiful hand feel, light and crisp, with a durable matte finish.
This M-65 field jacket is the one you think of when you think of an army jacket. With roomy pockets and a hood that stowed away in its collar, its military functionality and ruggedness became a modern-day wardrobe requisite. With Orslow's rendition, the jacket has been reincarnated with all the bells and whistles and is crafted to only age gracefully with use.
We feel the best way to get the most out of these pants is to match them with items that maybe have a similar hand feel but aren't specifically flannel or shetland or rugged sweatpants. Think crepe de chine shirts, boxy sweaters, sweat-stitched denim, and a pair of Goodyear Made Oxfords. A pair of New Balance 992s or Converse 70s chucks can quickly complete the look for an effortless appearance.
The Orslow Rope-dyed denim work jean is for someone that wants that perfectly broken-in feel. Suitable for almost any kind of activity, but especially work. Orslow has developed a signature fabric that is indigo rope-dyed to achieve a distinctive character and colour to give them a slubby handle, which will age beautifully over time. Although the shade of blue fades slightly more than most, these jeans will develop more variation with wear.
